This intimate experience ignited her interest in hair care, leading her to explore YouTube tutorials and teach herself various techniques. Soon, she became the stylist for her friends and family, taking immense pride in her ability to create beautiful hairstyles.

However, her experiences at salons were less than ideal. As a frequent walk-in at local hair cut places, she never knew what to expect, often leaving in tears after a botched haircut. This contrast between her experiences and those of others prompted a realization: she wanted to create a positive environment for others. Katies mission became clear: to transform hair appointments into enjoyable experiences, delivering not just a service but a sense of satisfaction and self-worth.

A New Path in
Vocational School​

As high school progressed, it became evident that traditional academic subjects were not her forte. Recognizing her creative spirit, Katie mother introduced her to a vocational school. With excitement
and determination, she applied and was accepted. This opportunity allowed her to embrace her passion for hairstyling, and she began her journey. By 2018, after
completing her hours at vocational school, she was ready to step into the professional world, securing a position at a salon immediately.

For katie, the most rewarding aspect of her job is meeting new people.
Every client brings a unique story, and she thrives on making connections.
The days when clients return for a follow-up appointment are particularly
special to her. It’s during these moments of catching up that she finds
fulfillment, knowing that her work has played a part in their lives.

Specializing in Color

Katie has found her niche in color and color correction, a passion driven by her own past experiences. Having endured poorly executed haircuts and color jobs, she empathizes with clients who come in seeking a transformation. For her, hair is more than just aesthetics; it’s a vital part of a person’s identity and deserves to be treated with care and precision.

To those entering the beauty industry, Maxine offers Katie advice: “Make sure you love what you do and take it seriously!” Regardless of when someone discovers their passion, it’s essential to nurture it. Hairstyling is not merely a job; it’s an art form that requires dedication and creativity. Katie encourages new stylists to remain open to learning, experimenting with new techniques, and embracing every opportunity for growth.

Finding La Vida Salon and Spa

Katie's journey led her to La Vida Salon and Spa after attending one of @hairbyluana's classes. During this class, she learned about the opening of La Vida Salon later that month. Luana’s assistant at the time, Petar, had also attended the same vocational school as Katie. Their conversation over lunch opened the door to La Vida, and Katie felt an instant connection. Grateful for that day, she acknowledges how much La Vida has changed her journey for the better.

LOOKING AHEAD

In five years, Katies envisions herself still flourishing at La Vida, continuing her education and deepening her love for hairstyling. With dreams of traveling and enjoying her twenties, she also harbors aspirations of what the future holds.
